How We Research This Site: Sources and Methodology
This site publishes figures, so it should say where they come from and what they are worth.
What this site is
ARFloors is an independent Arkansas flooring resource. We do not sell flooring, we do not install it, we do not quote jobs and we do not pass your details to anyone. There is no phone number and no lead form, because there is nobody here to call you.
The cost estimator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you specifically ask for the result by email.
Housing figures
Every median year built, share of housing predating 1940, share built since 2000 and population figure on this site comes from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, 2020–2024 5-year estimates — tables B25035, B25034 and B01003 — pulled in August 2026 for each city individually. They are not state averages repeated ten times.
Each city’s Census place code was read back by name before it was used, and that check earned its keep twice: the code first tried for Fort Smith resolves to Fayetteville, and the one first tried for Hot Springs resolves to Horatio, a town of about a thousand people. Both would have produced accurate figures attached to the wrong city.
Cost ranges and the regional adjustment
The installed ranges are planning figures assembled from published national and regional cost data, expressed as wide bands rather than precise numbers.
The regional adjustment is applied to the labor half only. Material is a national commodity and costs about the same across the state; construction labor is not, and it is tightest in Northwest Arkansas and loosest in the Delta. Adjusting the material half as well would produce a larger and more dramatic spread, and it would be a number we made up. The most expensive region is the baseline, so no city page ever prints a range wider than the statewide table.
They are estimates for planning. They are not quotes, and no calculator can see your subfloor.
What we do not do
- We do not invent statistics. Where per-state data does not exist — flooring market share by state, for instance — we say the figure is national rather than dressing it up as local.
- We do not publish reviews, testimonials or project photos from work we have not done.
- We do not claim a team, a history or a service area we do not have.
- We do not publish house prices. This is a site about what flooring costs; what a home is worth is a different subject and belongs somewhere else.
Photography
The photographs are licensed stock images of real interiors, credited to their photographers. They illustrate materials and rooms; they are not photographs of Arkansas projects and are not presented as such.
